BIG update....

Hey guys, I know I've been terrible and haven't posted since school started!! What the heck Rachel? Anyway, I have some FABULOUS news so I'm going to jump ahead in time till today...then go back and fill you in on my school year so far.

So.......we WON the Adobe Design Achievement Awards Installation Category!!!!!! Will (my classmate) is in Taipei with my professor and they accepted the award just a few hours ago. Pretty incredible!! It was a worldwide competition with over 4,600 total entries (over all categories). Anyway, we're super pumped and while there is a small prize (some much needed software and 3k to split amongst 11 of us....so $272.72 that goes straight to tuition next semester), the best reward is the recognition and the resume padding. We've all gotten probably 40-50 random friend requests from people on social media stuff from the awards so I'm sure that will only increase now that we're 11 among 33 total winners this year! Pretty awesome stuff!

Here is the link.....

Here's a picture of the award.....Yayayayy! :)

and a picture of all the winners this year (will is in the front in the brown suit)

edit: update--- We (Brian and I) just skyped with Will and he showed us the award again and also he has all of our official winner certificates so we got a teaser.....

So anyway, let's go back in time now.....

So....I went to Chicago the like second week of school for the annual Bushwalla LRC with my mraz friends :)

One night, Brian and his roommates John and Alex and Alex's girlfriend Jacyln and I all decided to play around with some glowsticks. They have nerf guns and we broke open glowsticks and dipped the bullets in it so when we shot them sprays of glowing goodness bursted out everywhere...(before you say anything...it's non-toxic and it all disappeared by the next night)

glow fingers!

carpet glow drawings

glow beard!

the shot!

I bought some rhubarb at the market and made strawberry rhubarb pie......

Brian playing around with toys at meijer.....

My loom!! I love weaving!!

Brian and I went out to lucky strike which is like a bowling alley/club/restaurant/arcade and we had dinner and played arcade games. He won me a Domo stuffed animal and we did a photobooth which I have yet to scan but have a blurry webcam picture of....

We've had a lot of presentations for our main studio class so Brian decided that one day after it we both looked cute and should take a picture :P

The only real party I've been to this school year....it was super super fun!!

Cute drawings while in class supposed to be brainstorming....

I've been going to Brian's parents almost every Sunday to do homework with Brian and have Sunday dinner with them. Often there are games played after dinner....this game of jenga was particularly stressful hahahha

so like my 5 year old niece, I'm being rapunzel for halloween!! here's my wig!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and last but not least....kelsey (my roommate) is organizing a halloween dodgeball event...she took pictures of lots of kids at school in costume with dodgeballs....here is cousin patrick's lovely portrait :D

I register for classes for my last semester of college in two weeks! That is CRAZY.

hugs and kisses

Chicago...

Somehow I never posted pictures from Chicago when Brian
came with me the last weekend I was there. So here goes!

So we discovered that friends of ours from school were
visiting the city the same time we were!! We met up and
had dinner and watched a dave mathews cover band play
We went shopping at H&M (3 stories!!) and picked out
outfits for each other. Brian picked this and I couldn't
believe how much I loved it!
Even funnier was that when Brian was taking these
pictures he said "You look just like Chloe!" Lo and behold,
the next day Nino posts this pic of Chloe. The comparison
is uncanny! (this was SERIOUSLY not setup!)

Cute!!
We went to the planetarium while we were there. It was
super windy but there is a gorgeous view of the lake. We
seriously saw 7 wedding parties taking pictures that day!
Also on the way is the veterans memorial. Brian's dad
is a navy vet so he was happy to pose :)
In the planetarium, Brian is silly.
We're trying to make this souvenir hat a thing.
So trendy.
Us waiting for the show we went to. It was narrated
by Whoopie Goldberg!
Sunday!! This is in the Comfort Station where the final
stuff was all set up like a gallery. Rick Valicenti is the guy
with the yellow shirt on. He's the head of everything and
he's also pretty awesome!
Poster montage. Things to Know is mine :)
Some bike fashion some of the group did.
My poster!
Different color. Can you spot the typo?
so ashamed.
spoke cards!

Cool poster that was on the wall.
Not sure who did it :)

Senior year....

HI! We're bacckkkkk!!! For the last year...how sad! Anyway, we're almost all moved in now so I'm gonna show you some pics. Excuse the last few boxes...

Entryway when you walk in

To the left we have the living room....with surprise guest!

Continue through the living room toward the kitchen...

Hello, kitchen!

Directly across from the living room (to the right of the entrance)
is our working space. It looks like an office.

Hello desk!! All the shelves to the right there are mine too :)

Then we've got the area that leads to Kelsey and Lauren's
bedroom and bathroom (left and right, respectively) but
they were napping so there are no pics of the rooms.

But here is Stacey and my room! (through the
laced doorway from the first picture)

aaaand our bathroom.

Fun, right?! It's exciting to be all moved in finally. I've only had two classes so far and I went to work yesterday but I've got my other two studios today so that should be interesting/fun. Yay!

Love and miss you allllllll!

Soooooo remember the installation stuff my class did? We had to stay after school for two weeks to install stuff for the show? Well we submitted our work as a class to the Adobe Design Achievement Awards which is a contest for students worldwide and we are semi-finalists!! I got my certificate in an email today so I thought I'd share. To see the site we submitted with all our work on it to the contest go here: www.codes.nevercool.com

We'll find out at the end of the month if we're finalists.
